The Saturday we've been waiting for

Finally.

Have been anticipating this day ever since we planned it more than 3 weeks ago! (You'll know why I was so excited about it later)

Caught up with Connie and Michelle at The Glen, did the usual shopping (having said that, only Michelle shopped, both Connie and I were just window shopping) and then rewarded ourselves with a French manicure session. I'm loving my nails now!

Speaking of manicure, we actually ran into someone from another department at Hollywood Nails who was amazed to see all three of us there. Don't know about you but it's slightly strange to run into someone from work during your leisure time...

My kung poh chicken (宫保鸡丁) with rice, FAILED! Very disappointing, not only was it NOT spicy (despite the presence of some dried chillies), it was also too heavy with vinegar.

The last time I went to one was actually two years ago, 2 whole years! God knows how long I've waited for this day! (Now you understand why I was so excited)


Whenever I tried to coordinate a karaoke session, some would either bail last minute or too busy or just not that into it, bah!


Never mind, I've finally found myself some lovely karaoke kakis. Love you girls! =)

Anyone watched New Moon yet?

So watched it with the boys at Crown the other night (by the way it was Lip Kai's birthday on Saturday, everyone wish him a happy belated birthday).

*inhales air*

IT WAS F*CKING LOUSY!!!!!!!!!!!!

*calms down*

Pardon me but I find it rather bewildering that so many people went crazy over it. Are we even living on the same planet?!!!

It was basically a prolonged saga of boy-painfully-left-girl-to-protect-her-then-girl-went-crazily-suicidal-then-both-got-back-together-after-a-catastrophic-event.

It felt like such a never-ending drag that halfway through the movie I was praying it would finish soon. You can only imagine how relieved I felt when it finally finished! (I didn't even feel this way with Watchmen, and mind you Wactchmen was awful. That says a lot, doesn't it?)

The only consolation was probably the hot werewolf guys especially Jacob, don't know why the vampire blokes looked so unflattering. Apart from that, I absolutely loath New Moon!

1. What's with the slow mo whenever Edward appeared? *pukes*

2. Bella is such an embarrassment to the female species that she should kill herself! Seriously, acting all so suicidal after the breakup and not to mention the shrieking in the middle of the night is ludicrous!

3. What's with the 360 degree panoramic shot of Bella sitting in her room while three months have passed?

3. Last but not least, what's the go with Edward and Bella 'happily' chasing each other in the woods as foretold by Alice's vision? I could actually hear someone laughing in the cinema due to its absurdity.

Oh well, for all its flaws I suppose it's worth a laugh, so watch it if you like. But don't say I didn't warn you!

Impromptu

Perfect word to describe last Sunday.

So caught up with Ying last Sunday and went to this Greek cafe in Clayton which was filled with rows of dazzling desserts. Honestly, as far as Clayton standard is concerned, I reckon the cafe looks rather swanky. =)



Had a hot chocolate (unsurprisingly) and it was undoubtedly delightful! Unlike some cafes that serve what tastes like diluted hot chocolate, this was very rich and chocolaty, simply heavenly! Now that's what I call a proper hot chocolate.



Also had a tiramisu. Hmm, it was good but nothing special about it, just a normal tiramisu and frankly, you can't go wrong with tiramisu. Maybe I should try something out of the ordinary next time.

Soon after that, decided to go to Dream Festival at Federation Square out of spontaneity. Now you get what I meant by impromptu?

The place was full of these cyclops-like statues which seemed to be the theme of the festival, not very sure about the reason behind this though. Maybe I should have read the brochure?

Went to Chadstone with my colleague Cherie straight after work last night. Girls night out, how cool is that!



Saw Body of Lies starring Leonardo di Caprio and Russell Crowe. We were actually hovering between The Duchess and Body of Lies but we eventually chose the latter as the pragmatist in me concluded that action movies are more financially worthwhile, hehe.

It was a good movie, although I must say, I was tense half the time given that it's about terrorism in the Middle East (especially the scene where Leo was tortured by the terrorists, simply grotesque!).

There was one guy in the movie though, who caught my attention.


And he was Mark Strong! *swoons* (Yes the guy on the left. What? You didn't actually think I was going to say Leo did you?) To be more precise, think I was more attracted to his character Hani in the movie, head of the Jordanian secret service. He was extremely intelligent, cool-minded, sophisticated and SO manly in suit (then again, most men do look good in suits). Having said that, as much as I think intelligent men are appealing but when he's too intelligent (like Hani), he's exactly the kind of men that girls ought to stay away from. D.A.N.G.E.R.O.U.S.

Oh, can you believe Mark Strong was also Septimus in Stardust? Gosh such stark contrast! Oh well, guess I'm still more in love with my Christian Bale after all, hehe.

Btw, love the lines too, especially this phone conversation between Leo and Russell:

R: I'm sure Aishah will be happy now that you're back in Amman.
L: *speechless implying that he's surprised R knew about Aishah*
R: Don't think I didn't know about your girlfriend. What did you think I do in my free time? Play tennis? Do I look like a tennis player to you?

Anyway, went to Pancake Parlour for dinner before the movie (sorry this doesn't seem to be in chronological order). Can't believe this was actually my FIRST time to Pancake Parlour although I've been staying in Australia for the past three years!



Had cheese and potato pancake with fresh mushroom sauce. The sauce was to die for, absolutely LOVE it! Thumbs up. *drools*

Fine I know I looked tired but it was after a whole day at work, what do you expect? Hehe.

p.s. So why did I erase the date and time in the above photo? Simply because I don't feel like telling you when I'm going for Wicked, wahaha! (ok just joking, I'll still tell you if you ask me in person, hehe)

OMG

Have you seen Wall-E??!!!



Gosh he's so drop dead gorgeous cute!!!! Frankly, never knew a robot could be THIS cute!



Especially with those killer puppyish eyes of his, truly madly deeply adorable! Btw, don't you reckon those eyes somehow bear an uncanny resemblance to Puss in Boots'? Kan kan?



Wall-E's Eve. Sleek, modern and sophisticated, such stark contrast in comparison with Wall-E. Btw, anyone agrees with me that she looks somewhat like an iPod?



Am so in love with this scene! Not quite sure why though. Perhaps it's the stunning sapphire stardust (err, are those stardust btw? oh whatever, I'll just settle with stardust because it sounds pretty! LOL) against the velvet universe, simply breathtaking!

Wish I could do what Wall-E did with the stardust too, so deceivingly romantic. Ok, I know I'll probably be incinerated yada yada if I try doing so but can we please be less pragmatic and more imaginative here? (Gee, why am I so defensive anyway? wtf)

Absolutely love this movie! It's amazing how feelings of affection could also be conveyed with such intensity without the aid of words. But on second thought, who knows, such intensity might have been lost with words as Roland Barthes argues that "... writing is the destruction of every voice, of every point of origin".

Affection (or in this case, love) is afterall a primitively innate human disposition, a feeling that is beyond words; and that initial feeling is lost as soon as writing commences because its intensity will be restricted in order to suit a literary framework. Ultimately, our verbal expression is restricted by our literary knowledge and linguistic skills. Isn't it ironic how literature seems to precede experience?

Gosh I'm such a nerd! Why am I talking about Barthes anyway? Oh well, check out Roland Barthes' The Death of the Author if you're interested, or simply enroll yourself in Authorship & Writing if you're in Monash, LOL.

Back to Wall-E, yes of course it's one heck of a movie, catch it if you haven't already done so. Simply adore it! =)

p.s. On a more random note, am baffled by one question, given the state of immobility and obesity that humans sadly achieved in Wall-E, how could they possibly ahem ahem to conceive babies??!!! *laughs* Perhaps in vitro fertilization?

Had dinner at Izakaya Chuji before the movie. Finally, a proper Japanese restaurant run by ACTUAL Japanese! *gasps* Speaking of authenticity, hehe.

Unfortunately, reckon I'm not entitled to be giving a verdict because......

Almost straight after dinner.

To cut a long story short, I forgot to eat lunch and we all know what will happen when you have a sudden food intake after starving for too long (technically, I wasn't even feeling hungry, such deceiving stomach I seem to have, LOL).

Poor Izakaya, I'm so sorry, your food was definitely not puke-inducing. Don't worry, I'm determined to pay you a visit soon to make it up to you! =)

Anyway, moving along. Went to my darling Koko Black after the movie. \(*.*)/



Went to the one at Lygon Street and I must confess, this was actually my FIRST time to Lygon Street's Koko Black (yes I know I'm very suaku, thank you and shut up!) and it's so much better than the one at Bourke Street (and by that, I meant decor and space wise).

The boys, who momentarily revealed their 'homosexuality' as they lovingly shared their chocolate martini. *shivers* Wahaha!



The girls, whose superior tastes prompted them to choose the exact same thing --> iced chocolate! (Great minds think alike, wahaha)



My divine iced chocolate! *drools*



Engulfed in to-die-for chocolate and heaps of trash talking (which strangely revolved around the origin of a certain love child aka char siu zai, hehe), I was simply beaming with joy!

So was watching 'You Don't Mess with the Zohan' the other night. Nothing special about the movie, just another Yankee movie that seizes every blinking opportunity to disseminate their oh-so-great American supremacy propaganda yada yada. *yawns* And did I also mention the movie's so-called sense of humour was just intellectually challenged?

Anyway, there was one particular scene though, that actually got me thinking. The scene where this guy (obviously I'm not bothered to remember his name) stopped Zohan from working in the electronic shop, claiming that it's a dream killer. It really got me thinking, nope, to be more precise, it hit me hard.

Something interesting happened at work today. Got a phone query from John in ITS Gippsland, told me briefly a student had some difficulties with the online scholarship application before putting the student on the line.

As soon as the 'student' started talking, I knew immediately that he was Peter. What a small world indeed! =)
