So, I'll be starting a new job in two weeks.
Truly I'm grateful,
for the knowledge I've acquired through my current position,
and for the opportunity to expand my knowlege with the new position.

It's December!
Gosh this is exciting, less than 3 weeks before Christmas!
Anyway, we decorated our department with those pretty Christmas adornment yesterday, so the place is now filled with an abundance of festive bliss and not to mention, Christmas spirit! Besides putting up deco, we also had a Christmas breakfast where everyone was to bring a plate of breakfast food.

Time to embrace the Christmas spirit!
Di (my manager) all pumped up decorating the place. Btw, Cherie and I decorated the counter behind Di. =)
And finally, the Christmas tree, it would not have been complete without one! That reminds me, forgot to take a photo of the all dolled up tree. Oh well, will take one next time.

So I went for yoga yesterday. Did heaps of stretching and deary me, had some sore muscles today! Now where did I get the idea that yoga is a 'no pain' form of exercise? Haha.
Having said that, I actually enjoyed it although half the time I felt like almost falling off my balance (oh well, first-timer, need I say more?). Looking forward to the next class!

Roses
are red...... Wait, why am I saying this? *sweat*
Oh well, suppose I can't think of a better opening than that, hehe.
Anyway, got this rose from Bernie at church yesterday. Father John even joked that I ought to feel special as only people on Bernie's 'top 10 list' will get roses from him. But honestly, as much as I'm not a very flower person, reckon receiving flowers from time to time isn't bad after all. =)
Love how the rose juxtaposes my Juicy Couture desktop, so pretty! ^_^
Speaking of church, was 'recruited' to join the choir a couple of weeks ago and it was my first time being a choir member yesterday and I must say, I simply LOVE it! Plus, the other choir members have been very welcoming and are such darlings, what's not to love? Oh yea, apparently our choir has a name --> VIP (Verses In Praise).
I'm taking baby steps in getting myself more involved in the community, I'm happy and proud of myself, at least I took the first step. =)

So the weekend was simply glorious, weather-wise. Speaking of weather, I can't believe it actually HAILED today! Oh well, guess that's typical Melbournian weather, fortunately I was indoor at the time.
Anyway, about the weekend. Wasn't originally planning to go out on Saturday until Audrey called and claimed that it's a shame to be home-bound when the weather was so wonderful. So off we went to the beach!
I'm glad that I did go out for everything was so alive (oh well, it's spring after all) and it's good to tap into such joyous aura, hehe.
Btw, we went to St Kilda. Char Siu Zai said that I should have gone to Brighton instead of St Kilda. Eh love child, next time can bring your mommy there, muahaha!!
Moving along. We were strolling along Acland Street when this caught my attention:

How cool is that, awesome! Totally salute these guys who were there for hours, such professionalism.
Decided to have a late lunch at Lentil As Everything. Went there years ago with Char Siu Zai and I must say, things sure have changed. Most notably, the menu, from a few selections then to only TWO choices now.
Not that I'm complaning though, it must have been rather hard for them, especially when their survival totally depend on people's generosity. Oh, did I mention you are free to pay any amount you want? Now you get what I meant by 'totally depend on other people's generosity'?
Anyway, it was either lentil burger or mala kofta that day, went for the mala kofta simply because it sounded exotic! Haha.
While waiting for the food, took a shot of my bracelet, isn't it pretty?You don't have to agree, it was meant to be a rhetorical question and honestly I couldn't care less what you think, muahaha. Got it for only $3! 0_o
Audrey was suddenly camera shy. *evil laughter*
Finally, the arrival of food! Wrong one though, was meant for another table, this was lentil burger by the way. -_- Good presentation nevertheless.
Minutes later, the mala kofta finally came my way, hurray!
Reckon it's rather good, filled with rich herbs and spices. God knows how I adore herbs and spices!
Simply because I love chandeliers, hehe. =P
Anyway, a stroll along Acland Street wouldn't be complete without indulging in its famous desserts. So after lunch, went to one of those cafes with irresistible displays of mouth-watering sweets!

Actually had a sense of deja vu as I was savoring this until I realised we had the exact same thing the last time Hui Ting was here!
Love it, very refreshing. Btw, love the glaze too, reckon it complements the dessert.
And of course I was happy! =)

So was chatting with a long lost friend the other day and it simply made my day. Sort of reminded me of those youthful days (not that I'm very old now mind you!) and above all, home. ^^

Got a compliment from my GM today. It's amazing how simple words could evoke such magnitude of joy. Thanks for your generous compliment Fiona. =)

OMG
Have you seen Wall-E??!!!
Gosh he's so drop dead gorgeous cute!!!! Frankly, never knew a robot could be THIS cute!
Especially with those killer puppyish eyes of his, truly madly deeply adorable! Btw, don't you reckon those eyes somehow bear an uncanny resemblance to Puss in Boots'? Kan kan?
Wall-E's Eve. Sleek, modern and sophisticated, such stark contrast in comparison with Wall-E. Btw, anyone agrees with me that she looks somewhat like an iPod?
Am so in love with this scene! Not quite sure why though. Perhaps it's the stunning sapphire stardust (err, are those stardust btw? oh whatever, I'll just settle with stardust because it sounds pretty! LOL) against the velvet universe, simply breathtaking!
Wish I could do what Wall-E did with the stardust too, so deceivingly romantic. Ok, I know I'll probably be incinerated yada yada if I try doing so but can we please be less pragmatic and more imaginative here? (Gee, why am I so defensive anyway? wtf)
The lighter scene, another favourite scene of mine. =)
Yet another favourite scene of mine! *heart melts*
Absolutely love this movie! It's amazing how feelings of affection could also be conveyed with such intensity without the aid of words. But on second thought, who knows, such intensity might have been lost with words as Roland Barthes argues that "... writing is the destruction of every voice, of every point of origin".
Affection (or in this case, love) is afterall a primitively innate human disposition, a feeling that is beyond words; and that initial feeling is lost as soon as writing commences because its intensity will be restricted in order to suit a literary framework. Ultimately, our verbal expression is restricted by our literary knowledge and linguistic skills. Isn't it ironic how literature seems to precede experience?
Gosh I'm such a nerd! Why am I talking about Barthes anyway? Oh well, check out Roland Barthes' The Death of the Author if you're interested, or simply enroll yourself in Authorship & Writing if you're in Monash, LOL.
Back to Wall-E, yes of course it's one heck of a movie, catch it if you haven't already done so. Simply adore it! =)
p.s. On a more random note, am baffled by one question, given the state of immobility and obesity that humans sadly achieved in Wall-E, how could they possibly ahem ahem to conceive babies??!!! *laughs* Perhaps in vitro fertilization?

Almost straight after dinner.
To cut a long story short, I forgot to eat lunch and we all know what will happen when you have a sudden food intake after starving for too long (technically, I wasn't even feeling hungry, such deceiving stomach I seem to have, LOL).
Poor Izakaya, I'm so sorry, your food was definitely not puke-inducing. Don't worry, I'm determined to pay you a visit soon to make it up to you! =)
Anyway, moving along. Went to my darling Koko Black after the movie. \(*.*)/
Went to the one at Lygon Street and I must confess, this was actually my FIRST time to Lygon Street's Koko Black (yes I know I'm very suaku, thank you and shut up!) and it's so much better than the one at Bourke Street (and by that, I meant decor and space wise).

The boys, who momentarily revealed their 'homosexuality' as they lovingly shared their chocolate martini. *shivers* Wahaha!
The girls, whose superior tastes prompted them to choose the exact same thing --> iced chocolate! (Great minds think alike, wahaha)
My divine iced chocolate! *drools*
Engulfed in to-die-for chocolate and heaps of trash talking (which strangely revolved around the origin of a certain love child aka char siu zai, hehe), I was simply beaming with joy!

So was watching 'You Don't Mess with the Zohan' the other night. Nothing special about the movie, just another Yankee movie that seizes every blinking opportunity to disseminate their oh-so-great American supremacy propaganda yada yada. *yawns* And did I also mention the movie's so-called sense of humour was just intellectually challenged?
Anyway, there was one particular scene though, that actually got me thinking. The scene where this guy (obviously I'm not bothered to remember his name) stopped Zohan from working in the electronic shop, claiming that it's a dream killer. It really got me thinking, nope, to be more precise, it hit me hard.

Something interesting happened at work today. Got a phone query from John in ITS Gippsland, told me briefly a student had some difficulties with the online scholarship application before putting the student on the line.
As soon as the 'student' started talking, I knew immediately that he was Peter. What a small world indeed! =)

have been on one ever since the move to Melbourne. Oh well, just couldn't help it, especially when I'm so deprived of TV. Not that I crave TV anyway, after being spoilt by Austar for such a long time, free TV can no longer satisfy me. I miss Austar! I want my Food Channel, History Channel, Discovery Channel, Fox8, Cartoon Network, Disney, heck, even BBC and CNN!! T_T
Anyway, moving along, back to the reading spree. Everyone knows I'm a hardcore egyptology enthusiast so it's least surprising that I'd be drawn to the following books written by French egyptologist Christian Jacq.

Currently in the midst of reading the fourth volume (also the final volume) of The Mysteries of Osiris series.
The War of the Crowns is the first book I read written by Christian Jacq. Being the first volume of The Queen of Freedom trilogy, I was absolutely enthralled by the book since I first laid my hands on it and am now determined to hunt other series penned by Jacq. =) Do have a read if you're interested.
Speaking of reading spree, have also read Fifth Mountain by my favourite author Paulo Coelho for the second time and it's still as mind-blowing as the first time I read it! Simply ingenius.

Now, you know I'm a lover of brilliant quotes but I shan't bombard you with too much quotes taken from the Fifth Mountain (although I'd very much love to, hmm, maybe I should dedicate a post to those quotes, that's an idea...). For the time being, just one will suffice in conveying Coelho's wisdom:

Got an email from a PhD student today thanking me for our warmth during his thesis submission. And I thought, I've made someone's day by being helpful and nice, how amazing was that! Reckon I've found another reason to enjoy the job.

In conclusion, chocolate makes one happy. Therefore, eat/drink more. ^_^
