First day
of December.
Feels oddly confronting. I mean, 2010 is already waving at us as the curtains are being drawn for 2009. How did it even happen?!! A rhetorical question.
Time is fleeting after all. *sigh*
Funny but one particular line from the movie Wanted came to mind -- "What the fuck have you done lately?"
Very confronting.
Pardon my sudden rambling. Anyway, I haven't even started my Christmas shopping yet! Have to get that done soon now that Christmas is in less than a month, gosh! Speaking of Christmas shopping, I got a bloke for my Kris Kringle at the office. Darn, I absolutely have no idea what to get him (that's why I dread buying presents for guys), any idea people?
On a totally random note, had this for dinner tonight.
Aromatic lemon, mushroom and baby spinach linguine with smoked salmon, inspired by my beloved Nigella Lawson. I say, I'm such a talented cook! =) And yes, of course it was delicious.

The last Callista training,
was today.
So it was cancelled last week, without any prior notice, much to my dismay.
And today, as we were having a meeting, suddenly received a phone call that Cherie, Guido and I were to have a Callista Research today at 9.30am.
You want to know what the interesting part was? They only called us at 9.20am!!
Speaking of SHORT notice! -__-
Before I knew it, three of us were whisked away to Blackburn Road for the training. (Not that I'm complaining anyway, training = no work, haha! Though I'd much appreciate it if they actually bothered to inform us earlier.)
Anyway, after the rather brain-consuming training today, a friend's recent MSN shoutout was brought to mind --> "one day everything will make perfect sense, so for now laugh at all confusions". Thanks to dear Anna's and the girls' constant teachings for the last few months, the training today almost felt like a breeze! Skills and knowledge that I've acquired finally made sense in an utterly remarkable way! =) How invigorating.

Am very inspired by the appointment with Vince earlier. It was a rather productive appointment, I daresay. Once again, things seems to start making sense, hehe.
You know what? I honestly believe I'll make it in due time. =)

Not that I crave TV anyway, after being spoilt by Austar for such a long time, free TV can no longer satisfy me. I miss Austar! I want my Food Channel, History Channel, Discovery Channel, Fox8, Cartoon Network, Disney, heck, even BBC and CNN!! T_T
Anyway, moving along, back to the reading spree. Everyone knows I'm a hardcore egyptology enthusiast so it's least surprising that I'd be drawn to the following books written by French egyptologist Christian Jacq.

Currently in the midst of reading the fourth volume (also the final volume) of The Mysteries of Osiris series.
The War of the Crowns is the first book I read written by Christian Jacq. Being the first volume of The Queen of Freedom trilogy, I was absolutely enthralled by the book since I first laid my hands on it and am now determined to hunt other series penned by Jacq. =) Do have a read if you're interested.
Speaking of reading spree, have also read Fifth Mountain by my favourite author Paulo Coelho for the second time and it's still as mind-blowing as the first time I read it! Simply ingenius.

Now, you know I'm a lover of brilliant quotes but I shan't bombard you with too much quotes taken from the Fifth Mountain (although I'd very much love to, hmm, maybe I should dedicate a post to those quotes, that's an idea...). For the time being, just one will suffice in conveying Coelho's wisdom:

Work has been busy and I can't deny that I'm sometimes thrown into great despair when faced with difficulties. But having such supportive and friendly colleagues (and supervisor) who are generous with genuine compliments definitely helps. Thank you for all your reassuring words. =)

Got an email from a PhD student today thanking me for our warmth during his thesis submission. And I thought, I've made someone's day by being helpful and nice, how amazing was that! Reckon I've found another reason to enjoy the job.

In conclusion, chocolate makes one happy. Therefore, eat/drink more. ^_^

Finally understand
the dilemma Santiago felt about choosing either remaining in the stability provided by the crystal shop or the uncertainty of chasing after his dream.

即使心里很清楚该作出什么决定，
在作出选择的那一刹那，
依然会令人胆怯。
只是，
虽然还是有点彷徨，
可至少已勇于踏出第一步，

即使心里很清楚该作出什么决定，
在作出选择的那一刹那，
依然会令人胆怯。
只是，
虽然还是有点彷徨，
可至少已勇于踏出第一步，
总比一成不变来得好。
下定决心，
成与否由自己决定。
在一个老同学的部落格看到这蛮有意思的东西：
别人是不会顾及你的感受的，要成功或要失败是自己的选择。
自己的事情应当自己抓紧，不要把命运放在别人的手里，
别人是不会关心你的事情的，因为事不关己。
是的，是时候对自己负责任了。

The impending change has finally emerged from darkness and is now a ferocious vortex of uncertainties. Yet, strangely, it fears me no more for I know it's now or never. Plus, if there's anything that is constant in this world, it is change.
It's a plunge I'm positive to make, at least I'll know what lies ahead and won't be haunted by endless what-ifs.
Dear Coelho, thanks for the inspirational tale of Santiago, it's truly one of the greatest literary masterpiece in contemporary fiction. That reminds me, I need to get my hands on that book soon, damn it! LOL

Ode to you, whom I've been nurturing as if you were mine and you in turn gave me an indescribable sense of achievement. Thanks to you, the long forgotten memory of being capable to rise to the occasion is now awaken from its slumber. Nevertheless, it's just so overwhelming now that I realised I've become so attached to you as we're about to bid adieu to each other. Honestly, I'll miss you.*sobs*
Btw, a word for your masters, the loss is yours, not mine. So long suckers! There, I feel much better now! *evil laughter*
