Busy busy busy
The perfect description for the past week.
Went to Yokohama for teppanyaki right after work - Connie and Amanda.
We've been so looking forward to it since we last went there a few weeks ago - Michelle and myself.
Fried maryland fillet - yummy!
Our assorted vegetables sizzling away, the chef is a funny character btw. I kinda like him, at least he's not boring lol.
Tiger prawn and succulent scallops. *drools*
And this - ladies and gentlemen, simply the best steak! (Ok, I may have exaggerated a little but you get the idea and FYI - we had it rare) In fact, Amanda and I were saying to each other the next day," How good was that steak last night!"
Connie had been craving this fried rice for so long that she was in a euphoric state as soon as we were served this.
Went karaoke after dinner and dessert (went across to Pancake Parlour right after teppanyaki, yes I know we're such pigs, shut up!). Note that it was a Thursday night - it dawned on me that we were such lunatics to have gone karaoke on a weeknight, obviously we weren't thinking lol.
Someone once told me that I'm a karaoke junkie. Maybe I am, bite me! :P
Please do check out the above clip, it's so funny that we were pissing ourselves watching it over and over again! Who knows, the girls might shoot to stardom after this is uploaded to Youtube haha.
The next morning at the office - note that three of us looked perfectly normal at the end of the table, unaffected by the event that transpired the night before (I didn't sleep until 1am). Alas, this was but a facade for I suffered the repercussions of our madness soon after lunch - I was pratically walking around the office like a zombie! Oh well, no regrets though, we had so much fun! :)
A couple of days later, went to Cuckoo at Mt Dandenong in conjunction with Aunty Lily's birthday.
God knows how I love a hearty buffet! *drools*
It goes without saying that I absolutely enjoyed myself there - myself and Diana.
I remember taking a photo at this exact same spot two years ago, funny how time flies.
Profiteroles cake - to Daniel's credit, it was such a lovely cake!
And this, I said with a very heavy heart - it was finally the dreaded moment to bid adieu to dear Wingsze. T_T
Got her a bear from Build A Bear which has my pre-recorded message - "Wingsze, I will miss you very much. Take care. And please get married soon!" Note that I recorded this in Cantonese. Think she almost killed me after the last line haha.
Looking at three of us former Dalpura housemates, I had an epiphany - the only thing that is constant in this world is change. We have since moved on to different phases of our lifes, such is life, c'est la vie.

And with someone else's food too... -____-lll
Hung out at Max Brenner after dinner.
One final massage for Yong before her flight, how funny!

Titanic
After waiting for such a long time, we finally went! :)
And we went with such a huge entourage - there were 11 of us!!
Btw first three photos courtesy of dear Mel. Thanks for tagging me on fb so that I could steal them then post them on my blog, hehe...
Anyway, back to the exhibition. Thought last year's Pompeii exhibition was slightly better, I nevertheless had fun at Titanic. It was particularly heart-breaking to come across some final conversations between this elderly couple. The wife could have safely left the ill-fated Titanic on the lifeboat but she chose not to and stayed behind with her husband, she told him "We have been together for many years, where you go I go too."
Seriously, how could you not be moved by such love and devotion?!! T_T
Another interesting twist with the Titanic exhibition - everyone is handed a boarding pass and you get to find out whether you survive before you exit the exhibition. So, apparently I was this 47 year-old woman who was travelling alone on third class. Unsurprisingly, I 'died'. Oh well, what can you expect? It's third class after all, talk about social discrimination, live is cheap when you are poor, especially back in those days...
We also checked out the galleries at the Museum as it also includes entry to Melbourne Museum. Now I've been to the Museum many times but I daresay this was by far the best time! Perhaps it's the company?
Either way, I had such a wonderful time! :) Thanks guys and a big thank you to Mel for organising it.

Signs?
So, inspected a few houses yesterday. Let's just put it this way, it was a very 'interesting' day.
Four houses: 2 at Carnegie, 1 at Clayton, 1 at Springvale.
Started with the one at Clayton, it's actually very near my current place, only right across the street! Alas, it doesn't appeal to my liking. So out!!
One down three to go and this was where the 'interesting' part began.
Inspection times for the remaining three: Carnegie - 12pm to 12.30pm, Springvale - 12.40pm to 12.50pm, Carnegie - 1.40pm to 1.55pm.
While driving to the first one at Carnegie, it dawned on us that we might not be able to make it to Springvale on time (these two suburbs aren't exactly close to each other). Given that I really like the one at Springvale, decided to turn around and headed towards Springvale.
Unfortunately, it took us a while to find the place (believe me, it was quite confusing) and by the time we managed to find it, the inspection time was over!!!!
Missed two in a row. -___-lll
Last one standing: Carnegie - 1.40pm to 1.55pm. The time was barely 1pm and I figured we had ample time to get to Carnegie from Springvale.
How wrong was I!
So, we missed a turn and the GPS was so confused that it stopped responding. But that's not even the worst part. The pièce de résistance, ladies and gentlemen, was this - Brendan's car ran out of petrol!!!! 0_0
It went dead when we were at the traffic lights and poor Brendan had to PUSH the car to the side while I steered the wheel (ironically this is the first time in four years I'm behind the wheel, haven't driven since I came here). Note that it was also a hot day (40C), poor guy! Luckily a very kind lady pulled over and helped him to push the car, thanks heaps Miss Good Samaritan. =)
Ended up hailing a cab and went to the nearest petrol station to buy some petrol. The cab driver must be secretly laughing at us!
Needless to say, we had missed the last inspection by the time we sorted out this drama. Apart from the one at Clayton, we missed all THREE under very peculiar circumstances, how freaky was that! It appeared that the universe had uncannily conspired against the three non-Clayton house inspections. Could it be a sign that I should remain in Clayton? Or pure coincidence? Honestly, I don't know but I must say I was very flabbergasted.
Anyway, went to Chadstone after a day of wild-goose chase and saw Fantastic Mr Fox. Anyone seen it yet? Thought it was a decent effort but frankly I've seen better animation movies.

First day
of December.
Feels oddly confronting. I mean, 2010 is already waving at us as the curtains are being drawn for 2009. How did it even happen?!! A rhetorical question.
Time is fleeting after all. *sigh*
Funny but one particular line from the movie Wanted came to mind -- "What the fuck have you done lately?"
Very confronting.
Pardon my sudden rambling. Anyway, I haven't even started my Christmas shopping yet! Have to get that done soon now that Christmas is in less than a month, gosh! Speaking of Christmas shopping, I got a bloke for my Kris Kringle at the office. Darn, I absolutely have no idea what to get him (that's why I dread buying presents for guys), any idea people?
On a totally random note, had this for dinner tonight.
Aromatic lemon, mushroom and baby spinach linguine with smoked salmon, inspired by my beloved Nigella Lawson. I say, I'm such a talented cook! =) And yes, of course it was delicious.

How bizarre.
This week seems to be very speedy, it's already Friday before I even knew it! Not that I'm complaining anyway, I was merely amazed by how time slips.
Anyway, back to Friday, headed straight to city right after a company Christmas party. Met up with Lex first and decided to have dinner at Tomodachi in Melbourne Central.
Thought their interior was not too shabby.
And time for mother and son to camwhore while waiting for Brendan to rock up! Hehe.
I rather like the background. =)
Lex's seafood udon.

Conclusion? Due to a 'mother and son bonding', we happened to order similar food and we also unanimously agreed that it failed to appease our palate.
Let's just say that it's mediocre, how disappointing.
Nevertheless, we definitely didn't miss out camwhoring with the food, hehe.
After a while, Lex requested an emo shot to be taken. Like this emo shot Lex?
Brendan and his awkward smile, haha. That reminds me, forgot to take a photo of Brendan's food and his teriyaki chicken also looked more presentable than our noodles. *sulks*
So after dinner and an endless 冤枉路 (long story, I'll tell you in person if you're interested to know), we were finally in South Melbourne for the cabaret!
Performed by Aunt Mavis entitled Stocking Stuffer, Turkey Plucker. Gosh it was one hour worth of pure laughter and entertainment! I must say, I love his/her satirical jokes. Btw the above photo was taken from The Butterfly Club's website.
Speaking of The Butterfly Club (where the cabaret took place), I was absolutely flabbergasted by its swanky labyrinth-like interior. So Victorian and so vintage! Perfect camwhoring spot for the mother and son duo, hehe.
Brendan and his rather 'traumatised' look, haha.
So the boys discovered using manual mode without flash is better than auto mode (what? so I didn't know fully about the functionality of my camera yet. but do I look like I'm the kind who diligently explores electronic items?), some of the following photos were taken in manual mode. As you can see, the place was rather dimly lit.
An old-fashioned player! Now what is it called again? I know there's a special term for it but I can't seem to recall, arghh... Anyway, that reminds me, they were also playing oldies while we were there, even sweeter! Just what I love. =)
Lex, think this one is a good shot.
I love chandeliers. When I have my own house, I want one in my house too, perhaps a slightly bigger one, hehe.
Isn't it pretty? I so LOVE the extensive collection of paintings they have! Simply marvelous.
Even the fire place looks pretty.
Mother and son plus vodka lemon lime and bitters! Good choice son!
Discovered this spot right before we went in the cabaret showroom.
So it was a wonderful Friday night, although I'd much rather wish it didn't rain the whole night. No big deal, we had fun (most of the time), that's all that matters. =)

Went caroling in Corpus Christi (an old folks home) earlier today. I must say, I was quite moved and overwhelmed seeing how the elderly were entertained by us. We actually sang for an hour! I was very happy, really, I was. Knowing that we have made a joyous difference to some people, especially in this festive season.
Speaking of which, some of the guys from the other choir sang exceptionally well, such beautiful voice! Impressive.

On a random note, why has it been raining for the last 2 days? See, most of the time I don't mind the rain but it's such a spoiler when I have to go out. And yes, I still haven't bought my Kriss Kringle gifts yet which is why I'm going out tomorrow to shop for them. Gosh I hope it will not rain tomorrow but from the looks of it, seems like it's going to be another rainy day. *cries*
